31 weeks - 5/23/21

Week 31: The babies are the size of coconuts.

Every week now feels like a victory. It feels so good to be out of the 20 week stretch, but we want these boys to stay put until at least July.  I still have a feeling they will make their entrance right around the 4th of July though they may surprise and hold on tight until the 13th! The boys are staying active but also running out of space so when they get a little hyper they are either popping out the front or pouncing on my organs which usually just feels a little funny but every now and then get a good jab and I realize how strong they have become!

What's going on in there? This week the babies are drowsy ones, putting in longer stretches of snooze time, specifically REM sleep. Though eating or drinking something sugary can wake them right up. These brainy babies can already process information and pick up signals from all five senses. The connections in their brains are developing at a rapid pace, which is a good thing since they have to make billions of them!

Next appointment: 6/2/2021 ultrasound

Feeling: Full of babies! I surround myself with about 8 pillows but can still get into a relatively comfy spot while trying to sleep.

Ultrasound Day! 5/18/21

The boys look great, with plenty of fluid and heart rates of 157 (Apple was being quite the athlete and kicking the ultrasound wand) and 134(Banana

let his brother take the lead on activity for this one)! Both boys are measuring a little ahead and weigh in at 3lb 7oz and 3lb 15 oz. Nice and healthy!

We are still keeping an eye on Baby A's kidney measurements since that one kidney seems to be right at the limit depending on the  angle of the dimensions. It does not seem like a concern to the doctors but we will continue to monitor just to make sure.

The are still in the same position with Apple being head down and Banana being traverse.

We have an other appointment in two weeks and then we may move to every week if there is any dilation. Today, however, my cervix is long and NOT dilated. Yay!

30 weeks - 5/16/21

Week 30: The babies are the size of two bunches of broccoli.

Hello 30 weeks!! It feels like Banana has finally left his perch on top of his brother and may now be next to him. Luckily that means there has been a little more room made for my lungs for the moments. However my stomach seems to be widening and there is more pressure on my hips so we are in full waddle mode now most of the day.

What's going on in there? This week the surface of the baby’s brain begins to wrinkle — the wrinkles are called convolutions — so that it can hold more brain cells. The baby’s hands are now fully formed and their fingernails are growing. In ultrasounds, you may catch baby grabbing their foot.

Next appointment: 5/18/2021 ultrasound

Feeling: Full of babies! Luckily I can sleep through the night most times and my legs don't seems to bother me as much with the new magnesium cream. The belly is growing but still has plenty of room so it doesn't feel too tight, yet. Busy days leave me feeling pretty tired but I still have a good amount of energy. Though sitting is definitely more comfortable than walking or standing at this point.

29 weeks - 5/9/2021 (Happy Mother's Day!)

Week 29: The babies are the size of cauliflowers.

Happy Mother's Day! The boys continue to grow nice and strong. We were able to get our first COVID vaccine on May 5th, the only shot we were allowed to take on Cinco de Mayo! And luckily there were no  side effects other than a sore arm. Hopefully the boys will get some beneficial antibodies and a safer start once they come into the world and join their family. The boys have so much personality already, and regardless of what side I try to sleep on, the one on the "bottom" gets squirmy so I am sure they will enjoy a little more space soon, or they may still prefer to stay snuggled up on the outside too.  Little Apple, on the top, like to push right up against my side so we all get to play the fun game of "foot or booty" when trying to figure out what body part we can feel.  Always an adventure!

What's going on in there? This week the babies may begin to smile, especially in their sleep and they continue to hiccup. They feel like light, rhythmic taps in the womb and aren’t uncomfortable for baby. As the little beans plumps up, the womb is getting a bit cramped, so those hard kicks being felt will be more like jabs and pokes now.

Next appointment: 5/18/2021 ultrasound

Feeling: full of babies! Sleeping is easier some nights and not other so I think that may lead to some of the fatigue during the day. Luckily I do find that perfect comfy spot every now and then and it feels lovely! I have ordered a magnesium cream to help make my legs more comfy when sleeping and a belly band to help support the bump when I am on my feet since these boys are getting heavy!
